Dr. Miranda Wiley, ND
ND Naturopathic Physician
I have spent over 35 years in the natural health industry, and have been practicing naturopathic medicine in BC for over 16 years. I love spending my days in service to others, supporting my patient community to overcome various health challenges, and to provide pathways to lifelong wellbeing.
I work with both children and adults. Having started my journey into parenthood with 3.5 months in the NICU with my firstborn, I have a particular soft spot for the littles who had a bumpy arrival on this beautiful planet, and who may need a little extra support as they grow.
Educational Background
Dr. Miranda Wiley, ND began her education into natural health quite by accident with a summer job at the local health food store at 13 years old. At that time she was dealing with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis after a shocking diagnosis of rheumatic fever at 11 years old, and was on strong prescription medications every 12 hours (which ultimately continued from ages 11 to 15). Motivated both by curiosity about her own health, as well as a desire to help the customers seeking information at the store, she began her life-long relationship to nutrition, herbs, nutrients, and different physical modalities.
After graduating from an arts high school in Toronto she moved to Vancouver to complete her undergrad in Human Nutrition at UBC. She then worked for a few years in the natural health industry while exploring schools of naturopathic medicine. At that time the only option in Canada was in Toronto but she had fallen in love with the west coast and didn't want to return to a city she already knew so well. The Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine opening in New Westminster was the answer to her dreams, and she graduated in 2009.
Areas of Expertise
Dr. Wiley has spent the last 16+ years in a general family practice seeing patients with a broad range of conditions, both common and complex. This "wide lens" scope helps her to see connections between seemingly unconnected symptoms. Improving metabolic tone and bone health are also key areas of interest to ensure patients age healthily and stay vital into their senior years. Dr. Wiley has prescriptive authority, IV certification, and is trained in both acupuncture and Bowen Technique.
Dr. Wiley also serves as a product educator for a local distribution company selling high quality supplements, and loves the additional opportunity it provides to educate and empower large numbers of people about herbs, nutrients, and nutraceutical supplements.
Personal Life
When not in practice Dr. Wiley is happiest playing with her kids (who are finally old enough for some decent board games!) and husband, exploring her creative side in the kitchen, organizing and decluttering, moving her body outdoors or at home on the mat, or sitting quietly with a book and her cat.
